About The Position

EastPointe Hospital is a private, free-standing psychiatric hospital for adults and adolescent males (ages 12 – 18) located in Daphne, Ala. EastPointe’s clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate adults and adolescents in psychiatric crisis. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment. Adults and/or adolescents admitted to EastPointe will have exhibited life-threatening, destructive or disabling behavior or symptoms. Each patient completes a psychiatric diagnostic evaluation and receives 24-hour clinical care for the duration of their stay. The goal is for each patient to return to home or to the least restrictive level of care.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Completing the admission process for all consumers entering the facility
  • Assigning/supervising routine task assignments of unit staff
  • Administering medication as needed
  • Communicating daily with the physician regarding the consumer’s physical and mental status
  • Attending multidisciplinary meetings as held
  • Deescalating or resolving crisis situations on the unit
  • Observing consumers behavior in groups and activities, documenting observations in consumer records
  • Interacting with consumers and evaluating needs to ensure that proper information is reported from shift to shift and during staffing with the Treatment Team
  • Supervising nursing care overseeing routine task assignments of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Behavioral Aides/Specialists
  • Administering medications, observing the Six Rights of medication administration
  • Providing medication education for the consumer and family, including uses and potential side effects
  • Monitoring consumers for potential side effects of medications and reporting findings to the physician
  • Communicating effectively with the physician regarding the consumer’s physical and mental condition
  • Interfacing with the multi-disciplinary team and actively and cooperatively participating in development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan
  • Performing venipuncture for laboratory requests, monitoring results, and reporting all abnormal findings to the physician
  • Providing emergency care as needed (CPR, MindSet, PRN medications), according to AltaPointe Policy & Procedures
  • Assisting consumers with personal care issues (bathing, toileting and other personal hygiene items)
  • Demonstrating willingness to work on any unit at EastPointe or BayPointe based on facility needs and as directed by the supervisor
  • Demonstrating the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knowing how to deescalate or resolve the situation
  • Assisting with Seclusion and Restraints per AltaPointe Policy & Procedures
  • Effectively demonstrating the application of child/adolescent/adult competencies
