About The Position

PlanITROI is seeking a detail-oriented RMA Audit Technician to join our dynamic Production Department. In this role, you audit units returned by customers through our marketplace sales channels. You verify each unit against its stated return reason, run full functional and cosmetic testing, grade condition, and determine the correct disposition: repair, resale, parts recovery, or secure destruction. Your work confirms whether a reported defect is real, catches discrepancies between the reported and actual condition, and produces the data that drives accurate marketplace return reporting. This position requires hands-on work with laptops, desktops, tablets, cell phones, and both Apple and Microsoft products. This is a Temp-to-Perm position with a 90-day conversion. Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Requirements

Relevant education or training in computer auditing/QC preferred; A+ certification is a plus.
Experience with RMA processing, returns management, e-commerce/marketplace returns, or reverse logistics preferred.
Proficiency in computer hardware and software, including BIOS configuration and diagnostic/upgrade utilities.
Strong ability to diagnose, test, and validate reported defects across laptops, desktops, tablets, cell phones, and both Apple and Microsoft products.
Working knowledge of PlanITROI's grading and disposition criteria, applied consistently across units.
Exceptional attention to detail and documentation accuracy, especially when reconciling reported versus actual unit condition.
Ability to explain technical and non-technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing, to support internal reporting.
Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
Ability to stand and walk through the shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Receive and process customer-returned (RMA) units, verifying unit identity (serial number, asset tag) against the marketplace return record and the customer's stated return reason.
Perform thorough functional and cosmetic testing to confirm or refute the reported defect, using diagnostic software and hands-on inspection.
Grade each unit against PlanITROI's grading policy and disposition criteria, and route it to repair, refurbishment, resale, parts recovery, or secure destruction.
Identify and escalate discrepancies between the customer's stated return reason and the unit's actual condition, including no-fault-found and non-conforming units.
Accurately record test results, grading, and disposition decisions in the production database for every RMA unit.
Maintain documentation required for marketplace compliance and audit trails.
Contribute to RMA reporting, including disposition summaries and return-reason trends, to support inventory and marketplace decisions.
Collaborate with the Production Team and Inventory team to meet marketplace return windows and turnaround requirements.
Assist in establishing and refining RMA audit standards and workflows to improve accuracy and throughput.
Ensure proper physical and system placement of RMA inventory throughout the audit process.
Contribute to the organization and upkeep of the technical facility.
Perform other tasks as assigned to support the team and the RMA program's goals
