About The Position

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Quality, Safety and Compliance, the Risk Specialist supports the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino Safety team (YRC Safety) by leveraging data, dashboards, and safety management information systems to monitor performance, track key metrics, and identify trends. Responsible for administering a full range of technical and administrative support functions for YRC Safety and proactively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to implement property-wide safety programs. This role also supports compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local safety regulations and requirements by team members, vendors, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Business, Finance, or closely related field is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of directly related experience in the field of environmental, health and safety or related industry required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
  • Must possess intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as internet research methodologies.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information through written reports and presentations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated maturity and professionalism, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and conduct work in compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and apply a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Possession of an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-Hour Certification is required, or the ability to obtain the certification within one (1) year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Ensures high-quality, error-free incident processing within the Risk Management Information System (RMIS). Receives, reviews, and enters incident data daily; creates and distributes reports; and provides accurate, professional, and timely responses to internal and external stakeholders regarding incident status and related inquiries.
  • Identifies, tracks, and maintains complex process data related to risk, safety, environmental, and reliability concerns, and recommends corrective actions as appropriate. Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations governing departmental operations, and processes all documentation in accordance with established standards.
  • Supports incident data analysis by preparing reports, identifying trends, and monitoring incident rates. Compiles and organizes data for executive-level presentations, reports, and other business materials.
  • Tracks and manages financial expenditures, including the collection, reimbursement, and reconciliation of third-party invoices. Maintains ongoing communication with service providers regarding invoicing for services rendered on behalf of YRC Safety. Compiles and analyzes data related to third-party services, including costs, invoicing trends, and forecasting needs.
  • Supports YRC Safety-related projects by developing and updating materials, job aids, training resources, schedules, and presentations.
  • Provides administrative support to YRC Safety management by coordinating project schedules, meetings, and training activities. Assists with the planning, organization, and facilitation of team meetings and training sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
