About The Position

This is a year-long internship. Internship candidates can expect part-time during the school year starting in fall 2026 and full-time onsite internship program during the summer 2027. Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. As an Accounting Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. Risk Product Accounting: Assists with ensuring that financial activity for insurance and annuity products and related field compensation are appropriately accounted for in the general ledger. Prepares and/or approves journal entries, account and system balancing reconciliations and investigates and resolves any findings by working with systems, client services and field services contacts. Prepares complex quarterly regulatory state reporting schedules and analysis. Collaborates on process improvement projects and external audit requests.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following: Accounting, Finance
  • Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role
