About The Position

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Risk Management Specialist to join their Team! This role is responsible for partnering with the administrative leadership team and department management teams to provide continual risk assessment. The specialist will participate in the development of comprehensive policies and procedures, compliance training, and protocols, as well as conduct internal investigations. Responsibilities include data collection, data analysis, and monitoring of Occurrence Reports (incidents) for the hospital and all satellite locations, and conducting audits based on trending occurrence events or other potential risks. The role is also responsible for assisting in meeting federal and state requirements related to patient complaints and performing and maintaining HIPAA audits. Collaboration with Medical Directors in preparing timelines and gathering information for the Peer Review Committee, and conducting patient tracers to identify process improvements are also key functions. Other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required.
  • 2 - 3 years hospital experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Must communicate in a timely manner, clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Competent background in mathematics and statistics is required to perform analyses and compile reports on certain job functions.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and evaluate regulations and guidelines and apply them to the setting of MVH in a manner that will cause the least amount of stress and confusion to the professional staff and patients.
  • Can evaluate suggestions and criticism objectively and wherever necessary undertake to change behavior or seek further guidance.
  • Demonstrates skills in interpersonal relationships with patients and their families, co-workers, supervisors and management.
  • Ability to influence change without direct authority, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the highly confidential nature of all facility and patient information and maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Demonstrates personal integrity in holding this information in the strictest confidence.
  • Exhibits an attitude that promotes harmony and goodwill among patients, caregivers, and co-workers.
  • Is self-motivated.
  • Keyboard, word processing and spreadsheet computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Log all recalls that are sent to the hospital.
  • Ensure recalls reach the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Follow-up on recalls to ensure the issue has been dealt with and is resolved, and log the resolution.
