About The Position

This role is a critical part of the project team and support project and firm wide leadership and commercial teams in managing contractual, legal and business matters throughout the life of large complex projects as well as occasionally leading internal projects. This role will work closely with project leadership, risk management, internal legal counsel, consultants, clients and third parties to help maintain contract compliance, support commercial issues resolution and organize critical project documentation. Your initial assignment will be on a 2.0+ million square foot healthcare facility at Mayo Clinic’s campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction or related field required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
  • Significant experience with contracts, commercial issue management, project management and documentation practices required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Professional business attire is required for client meetings. Examples of professional business attire include suits, ties, collared dress shirts, dresses, and skirts.

Nice To Haves

  • Juris Doctor preferred.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering or construction management environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate reviews with CannonDesign’s internal risk management and legal team on critical commercial and contract issues.
  • Liaise with CannonDesign’s internal accounting and finance teams regarding commercial issues, invoicing, and related documentation.
  • Assist project leadership in managing the commercial relationship with the client.
  • Compile historical data and project documentation based on information exchanged by the parties throughout the life of the project.
  • Receive, review, and summarize documents from the client, construction manager, and third parties for risk, legal and commercial leadership.
  • Participate in, and on occasion lead, meetings with client staff and representatives; will also be expected to lead internal projects occasionally.
  • Liaise with the client’s legal group and internal stakeholders on commercial and contractual matters.
