Risk Lead

Novig
Hybrid

About The Position

Novig is building America's #1 sports prediction market and is seeking a Risk Lead to join their Market Operations team. This role will be responsible for day-to-day risk monitoring across the exchange, ensuring market integrity and the health of the platform. The Risk Lead will identify and address issues such as mispriced markets, coordinated trading, and information asymmetry. This is a hands-on role requiring strong judgment, where the individual will build dashboards, manage alerts, work the queue, and collaborate with Engineering and Compliance. The position reports to the Head of Markets and works closely with Analytics, Operations, and the Fraud team.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of total experience, with at least 2 in a risk-oriented role like trading, market operations, surveillance, or quantitative analysis.
  • Experience ideally at an exchange, prediction market, prop trading firm, sportsbook, or fintech with a real-time market surface.
  • Strong analytical instincts.
  • Comfortable with SQL, BI tools, and agentic platforms.
  • Ability to build own metrics and translate them cleanly.
  • Sharp judgment under time pressure.
  • Understanding of where risk ends and fraud begins and a bias for clean escalation rather than scope creep.
  • Operator's mindset; comfortable wearing multiple hats and tackling issues as they surface.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of sports markets, pricing, and liquidity dynamics.
  • Familiarity with prediction markets, derivatives, or order-book exchanges is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor market integrity in real time, tracking activity across open markets, price movements, liquidity depth, and trading patterns. Flag mispricing, market manipulation, and suspicious or abnormal trading activity.
  • Design and ship dashboards, alerts, and monitoring workflows that scale as the company adds markets, leagues, and users.
  • Triage anomalies, investigate suspicious or abnormal trading activity, and decide in real time whether to adjust market parameters, cap position sizes, suspend a market, or escalate.
  • Pressure-test promotions, loyalty programs, and bonus structures for abuse vectors and exchange risk before they ship, and align with Lifecycle Marketing on guardrails.
  • Maintain a sharp operational line between risk events and fraud events, and hand off concerns to the Fraud team with evidence.
