About The Position

Federated Insurance is seeking interns for their Risk Consultant Internship Program, running from June 7, 2027, to August 12, 2027. This program is designed to provide real-world experience, meaningful projects, and professional growth opportunities. Interns will develop their skills while making an impact. The role requires living in or near Kansas City, Missouri, with regular client visits within an assigned territory. The internship begins with a dedicated training session at Federated's Headquarters in Owatonna, MN, to equip interns with the necessary knowledge and tools. Following training, interns will return to the Kansas City area to engage with clients and apply their learning.

Requirements

  • Current college students (Junior or Senior level) pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and an eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
  • Will not sponsor candidates for employment visa status, such as an H1-B visa.
  • Does not interview or hire students or recent graduates with J-1 or F-1 visas or similar temporary work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze fire hazards to identify potential risks and develop prevention strategies.
  • Visit client sites within your assigned territory to gather insights and provide actionable support.
  • Build and foster relationships with clients and internal partners in Marketing and Underwriting by facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage assigned workloads, ensuring timely and quality deliverables while maintaining efficiency.
  • Deliver a final presentation summarizing your internship experience, achievements, and learnings to leadership.
