About The Position

Federated Insurance is seeking interns for their Risk Consultant Internship Program, running from June 7, 2027 to August 12, 2027. This program is designed to provide interns with real-world experience, meaningful projects, and opportunities for professional growth. The role requires interns to live in or near the Detroit, Michigan area, as they will regularly visit clients within their assigned territory. The internship begins with a training session at Federated's Headquarters in Owatonna, MN, followed by client engagement in the Detroit area. The program aims to equip interns with the knowledge and tools for a successful summer, emphasizing hands-on opportunities, valuable mentorship, and rewarding experiences.

Requirements

Current college students (Junior or Senior level) pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Strong communication skills, adaptability, and an eagerness to learn and grow.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Cannot be sponsored for employment visa status, such as an H1-B visa.
Cannot interview or be hired with J-1 or F-1 visas or similar temporary work authorization.

Responsibilities

Analyze fire hazards to identify potential risks and develop prevention strategies.
Visit client sites within your assigned territory to gather insights and provide actionable support.
Build and foster relationships with clients and internal partners in Marketing and Underwriting by facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Manage assigned workloads, ensuring timely and quality deliverables while maintaining efficiency.
Deliver a final presentation summarizing your internship experience, achievements, and learnings to leadership.
