About The Position

Join the Issuer Quality Assurance (QA) - Risk Management Operations Team, in the Specialist, Quality Assurance position. In this role, you will ensure Approved Issuer’s compliance with CMHC’s securitization (NHA MBS and CMB) programs requirements, policy, and procedures to provide management with confidence in the Approved Issuers compliance. You will undertake a series of quality assurance and ongoing monitoring activities to evaluate performance and regulatory compliance. You will oversee and monitor the successful completion of assigned monitoring, quality assurance, compliance, oversight and/or audit assignments from start to finish, including planning, conduct, reporting and wrap-up activities within established timeframes. You will communicate identified issues and risks to senior management to ensure any potential concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner. We are seeking a team oriented, yet autonomous, and proactive individual who has a solid knowledge of residential secured lending in Canada with excellent analytical, and risk management abilities.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, finance or economics.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in risk management and reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, quality assurance and oversight.
  • Sound judgment, analytical thinking, attention to details and problem-solving skills, including the ability to be forward thinking.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills and being tactful in dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Self starter with the ability to multi-task and work under time constraints, combined with a willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • A CFA or FRM designation.
  • Strong knowledge of securitization and related risks and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of validation protocols, policies, guidelines, and plans, including, as applicable, objectives, risk assessment, criteria, and monitoring/testing approaches/programs for the conduct of the assignment.
  • Ensure timely execution of monitoring, testing, evaluation, and reporting on key processes, controls, and policy/program requirements.
  • Communicate identified issues and risks and collaborate with Approved Issuers to improve performance and address non-compliance.
  • Keep senior management and internal stakeholders informed of risk and Approved Issuer performance issues.
  • Stay updated on corporate objectives and priorities to identify existing and emerging risks.
  • Recommend and assist in implementing performance and risk indicators to enhance business effectiveness.
  • Promote and apply relevant industry frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Oversee processes for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating information to identify trends, gaps, and risks, and propose improvements.
