About The Position

The City of Grand Junction is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative professional to support the City's workers' compensation, property liability, and risk management programs. As the Risk and Safety Analyst, you will process and investigate claims, analyze trends, conduct safety inspections, provide training, and support strategies that reduce risk, control costs, and promote a culture of safety. Reporting to the Risk and Safety Manager, you will work collaboratively with departments across the organization to support workers' compensation, claims management, safety, and risk management initiatives. The successful candidate will have experience in claims administration, investigations, data analysis, and regulatory compliance, along with strong communication and relationship-building skills. Requirements

  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in safety or risk management and/or claims management.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in occupational safety, risk management, or a related field.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Administer claims management activities and assist in managing the City's risk portfolio.
  • Analyze claims and safety data, identify trends, and assist in developing strategies to reduce risk, control costs, and strengthen the City's safety culture.
  • Monitor progress on claims and risk initiatives to ensure recommendations translate into measurable improvement.
  • Conduct incident and claims investigations, including root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and delivery of safety programs, policies, and training.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, analytical skills, and strong interpersonal abilities.
