We have an opening for a Risk and Insurance Manager for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in the Staff Relations Division under the Director’s Office. This role will provide extensive specialized knowledge and expertise and will serve as a consultant for all aspects of risk management for the Laboratory, in the functional areas of loss control, safety, loss prevention, training, claims mitigation/claims management with an emphasis in workers compensation, and insurance. The selected candidate will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and effectiveness of a comprehensive Risk Management Program across the Laboratory, linking plans with LLNL’s organizational mission as well as leadership goals and objectives. Risk Management programs will be directed to the identification, analysis, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives to reduce risk, prevent and control exposures arising from operations and activities. The selected candidate will coordinate with other functional areas in responding to crisis situations and adverse outcomes; create, apply, and monitor facility level safety programs such as disaster recovery, emergency evacuation, fire safety, etc.; develop and implement a strategic plan for the management of the Workers’ Compensation/Employee Injury program and claims; plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. The successful candidate must maintain the utmost integrity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality at all times. This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
