About The Position

The Investment Strategy & Risk department plays a key role in setting, implementing, and monitoring the long-term strategies of BCI’s clients. This is accomplished by working with clients, management and asset classes to define the optimal path to achieve clients’ outcomes and enabling BCI’s investment structures and processes necessary to fulfill these outcomes. ISR consists of five branches: Strategic Asset Allocation, Total Fund Management, Growth & Investment Solutions, Client Partnerships and Investment Risk. Strategic Asset Allocation assists clients with developing tailored investment policies that achieve investment objectives consistent with their investment philosophies, funding policies and risk tolerances. This team also conducts research and models relevant macroeconomic issues including assessment of the current business cycle dynamics and research of emerging economic or financial trends, opportunities and risks – all at an asset class and total fund level. Total Fund Management is responsible for implementing a suite of total portfolio solutions such as rebalancing and for setting pool, asset class and total fund measures of success including benchmarks and performance objectives. Growth & Investment Solutions is responsible for stewarding BCI’s growth ambition, with an overarching goal of delivering net benefits to BCI’s existing clients. This includes efforts to support BCI’s clients in their own growth, developing new client relationships, and delivering new investment partnerships. Client Partnerships leads client relationships, engagement, and the sharing of information and insights to deepen client satisfaction. The team works closely with clients to understand their needs and expectations, and with the BCI team to ensure we deliver value and meet client investment objectives. This includes regular, proactive communications, tailored client services, and a commitment to transparency to ensure BCI remains clients' trusted investment manager of choice. Investment Risk focuses on the measurement and management of the asset class, total portfolio, and client investment risks. This team also advises clients on appropriate investment strategies based on their risks and tolerances for those risks. BCI manages a globally diversified portfolio of gross assets valued at $295 billion and is one of Canada’s largest institutional investors. We invest globally to support pension and other funds for more than 30 clients based in British Columbia. We are proud to have been chosen as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and BC’s Top Employers.
