About The Position

This role is responsible for reviewing and investigating patient care events, identifying potential risk and liability concerns, analyzing trends, and collaborating with leadership to implement process improvements that enhance patient outcomes and reduce organizational risk. The Risk Analyst utilizes clinical judgment, critical thinking, and analytical skills to identify and evaluate risk-related issues while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing
Wyoming Registered Nurse License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
Knowledge of healthcare risk management and patient safety principles
Ability to analyze clinical information and make sound recommendations
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic reporting systems

Responsibilities

Review and evaluate occurrence reports, patient safety events, and other occurrences to identify potential risk, quality, and compliance concerns.
Manage day-to-day activities of the occurrence reporting system, including event classification, follow-up, and closure.
Serve as a resource for staff and leadership on occurrence reporting processes and system utilization.
Conduct investigations utilizing clinical expertise, medical record review, and evidence-based standards of care.
Assist in the preparation of risk management documentation, including potential compensable event reports and litigation support materials.
Perform trend analysis and prepare reports for leadership, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities for risk reduction and process improvement through data analysis and event review.
Lead/participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and collaborate with department leaders on action plans and follow-up activities.
Support organizational patient safety, quality, and compliance programs.
Provide department support and assume additional responsibilities during the absence of the Director of Quality and Risk Management.
