About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a full-time Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist to join its Population Health team. This fully remote, day-shift position includes training. The specialist creates and/or compiles educational materials and provides coding and documentation education to providers, clinic care teams, and coding and billing staff. The role may also involve auditing medical records for risk adjustment and core quality measures and assisting with other performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience working in a medical practice setting with involvement in clinic administration, operations, billing, coding, or medical records, or at least two years of experience in a centralized billing department supporting primary care and/or specialty providers.
• AAPC or AHIMA coding credential required within one year of hire.
• Ability to accurately review and interpret ICD-9/10 coding documentation.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or some college coursework.
• Experience working with payer data, risk adjustment processes, and quality reporting.
• Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) credential.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• One year of experience performing chart audits in a medical environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical record audits for risk adjustment and core quality measures, as needed.
• Assist with other performance improvement initiatives.
• Review and interpret ICD-9/10 coding documentation accurately.
