About The Position

Assists in preparing and maintaining indoor ice rinks and associated areas of the athletic complex to support various athletic programs. This is a seasonal, part-time position generally running from mid-September to mid-March, with an expected workload of 20-30 hours per week. The schedule typically includes Monday through Saturday from 4:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and Sundays from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as needed. The schedule may be adjusted based on departmental and Academy requirements. The role involves operating and maintaining ice-making equipment, cleaning rink areas, and ensuring the security of the facility.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
Must consistently wear assigned uniform and equipment and adhere to the appearance guidelines.
May be required to handle hazardous materials in the work area.

Nice To Haves

Experience with rink operations preferred.
Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist Rink Manager in preparing rinks for all rink-related programs.
Operate and perform routine preventative maintenance on ice making equipment including ice resurfacers, ice edger, and other equipment as necessary.
Perform routine maintenance and repair work during and at the end of the skating season.
Clean Plexiglas shields and rink boards after each skating season.
Secure and lockup rinks after night and/or weekend rentals and events.
Clean rink areas, including rest rooms, team rooms, hallways, entrances, stands, players’ boxes, penalty boxes, locker rooms, and other athletic facility areas as needed.
Sweep, wash and mop floors, empty trash, replenish toilet paper and perform other similar duties.
Shovel snow at rink entrances/exits, emergency exits and other areas as directed.
Contact and assist emergency personnel in the event of a skating injury.
Performs other duties as assigned.
