About The Position

Assists in preparing and maintaining indoor ice rinks and associated areas of the athletic complex to support various athletic programs. This is a seasonal, part-time position generally running from mid-September to mid-March, with an expected workload of 20-30 hours per week. The schedule typically includes Monday through Saturday from 4:30 PM to 10:30 PM, and Sundays from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as needed. The schedule may be adjusted based on departmental and Academy requirements. The role involves operating and maintaining ice-making equipment, cleaning rink areas, and ensuring the security of the facility.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
  • Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
  • Must consistently wear assigned uniform and equipment and adhere to the appearance guidelines.
  • May be required to handle hazardous materials in the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rink operations preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Rink Manager in preparing rinks for all rink-related programs.
  • Operate and perform routine preventative maintenance on ice making equipment including ice resurfacers, ice edger, and other equipment as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work during and at the end of the skating season.
  • Clean Plexiglas shields and rink boards after each skating season.
  • Secure and lockup rinks after night and/or weekend rentals and events.
  • Clean rink areas, including rest rooms, team rooms, hallways, entrances, stands, players’ boxes, penalty boxes, locker rooms, and other athletic facility areas as needed.
  • Sweep, wash and mop floors, empty trash, replenish toilet paper and perform other similar duties.
  • Shovel snow at rink entrances/exits, emergency exits and other areas as directed.
  • Contact and assist emergency personnel in the event of a skating injury.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
