About The Position

Ozarks Electric, headquartered in Fayetteville, Arkansas with offices in Springdale, Arkansas, Stilwell, and Westville Oklahoma incorporated in 1938, is a member-owned electric cooperative, serving more than 90,000 meters across nine counties in Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma. The Right-of-Way Worker shall be required to perform all forms of vegetation management necessary for the safe and reliable delivery of electric and fiber services to the membership. This role involves completing all training and certifications needed to perform daily duties safely and efficiently, enrolling and completing year one curriculum and on-the-job training requirements within the right-of-way apprenticeship program. The position also requires maintaining and caring for tools, equipment, and materials assigned to vehicles, loading and unloading trucks, and operating certain types of vehicles and associated equipment. Compliance with all traffic laws, safety rules, regulations, and practices is essential, as is reporting any unsafe conditions observed. The role also includes external relationship management with Consumer-Members, courteously answering inquiries and directing them to the appropriate person, while increasing their understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative's plans, policies, and programs.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to use and adapt to changing technology utilized by the company for the position.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Class A driver's license within twelve months of hire date.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license without violations that would prohibit insurability.
  • Must be able to operate assigned equipment including trucks, skid steer, chain saw, chipper, etc.
  • Must be able to learn and apply information from technical manuals in the completion of duties.
  • Must be able adapt and use different forms of technology used for the position.
  • Must be able to complete reports and other paperwork and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Must become familiar with the National Electrical Safety Code, ANSI standards for the position and cooperative safety procedures.
  • Must be able to deal with a variety of people in varying situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Must be able to perform all activities listed in the job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequently lifts materials and equipment weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves up to 100 pounds.
  • Trims trees, works around noisy equipment and visually inspects work for safe conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to six months related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all forms of vegetation management necessary for the safe and reliable delivery of electric and fiber services to the membership.

  • Complete annual tree top rescue utilizing approved industry climbing techniques.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.
  • Courteously answers member inquiries and, if unable to do so, directs them to the appropriate person, making every effort to increase their understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative's plans, policies and programs.
