About The Position

Planning and Development Services is seeking a Right-of-Way (ROW) Permitting Specialist to join our Land Development team. In this role, you will review Right-of-Way (ROW) Use permit applications to ensure compliance with the Unified Development Code and applicable regulations. You will conduct field inspections on private, public, and County-owned properties to verify compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Additionally, you will assist with the review of subdivision, site, and development plans as part of the permitting process, help support safe, efficient, and compliant land development projects throughout the community, and collaborate with planners, inspectors, engineers, and other County staff to move projects forward. You will also provide backup support for Land Development Inspectors by assisting with field inspections and related activities, and contribute to maintaining high standards for development while helping protect the County's infrastructure and public spaces.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent and 4+ years of total experience in inspecting.
  • College or university-level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to quickly learn County software and systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Passed the Florida Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, or able to obtain it within six months of hire.
  • Knowledge of drainage structure construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret subdivision, drainage, and construction plans with accuracy.
  • Experience conducting field inspections and evaluating construction projects for compliance.
  • Familiarity with stormwater hydrology, hydraulics, surveying, construction practices, scheduling, and pavement design.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, Microsoft Office, and computer skills.
