About The Position

The Right-of-Way Groundman provides maximum service to members and the Cooperative by efficiently assisting in the performance of daily activities relative to the right-of-way maintenance of the Cooperative's electric system. This role also involves representing the Cooperative in a professional manner, meeting member needs, enhancing the Cooperative image, and pursuing self-improvement for greater responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Good basic mechanical knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to operate a computer and/or electronic tablet.
  • Ability to follow written or oral instructions and quickly learn the proper and safe use of tools and equipment assigned.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and lift heavy equipment.
  • Possess a current valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a "Class A" Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • This is a safety sensitive position where the employee holding this position has the responsibility for his/her own safety or other people’s safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform right-of-way clearing duties, including tree felling, trimming, chipping, piling, and other brush disposal.
  • Assist in dismantling, cleaning, adjusting, repairing, and reassembling right-of-way clearing equipment.
  • Assist the crew leader in ensuring accurate and timely submission of all forms needed for daily operations, such as employee time sheets, service order tickets, DOT vehicle inspections, and job briefings.
  • Develop an on-going knowledge and awareness of all Cooperative policies and goals, safety codes and regulations, and all aspects of the job classification.
  • Participate in job training, safety, and employee information meetings.
  • Prepare and clean work sites.
  • Assume any additional responsibilities or duties as may be required or assigned.
  • Answer member inquiries courteously and direct them to the appropriate person if unable to assist, increasing their understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative’s plans, policies, and programs.
  • Continually work to improve public relations and maintain high acceptance of the Cooperative.
