About The Position

The Rigger Helper supports rigging and crane operations by moving and preparing materials and equipment, attaching loads, setting up hoisting equipment, and communicating directions to crane operators. The role also involves maintaining tools and work areas, performing minor equipment maintenance or cleaning, and following safety procedures. Typically requires at least 6 months of industrial construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with riggers and others to perform job tasks.
• Load, transport, and unload rigging materials and assist in selecting cables, ropers, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to the weight and size of the load.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps.
• Attach loads to crane hooks using grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains.
• Relay directions to crane operators engaged in hoisting and moving loads, using hand signals, a loudspeaker, or a telephone, to help ensure the safety of workers and materials.
• Set up braces and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
• Assist with the setup, assembly, and disassembly of cranes.
• Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and the work area; restock supplies and materials as necessary.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
• Adhere to all safety procedures.
