About The Position

Worley is hiring a Rigger 1 for a remote, rotational position in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week, consisting of 40 straight-time hours and at least 44 hours at time and a half. Worley provides meals and lodging while employees are on location, as well as transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay. The role involves assembling rigging and safely lifting, moving, and positioning equipment and materials on industrial construction projects or at petrochemical facilities. Riggers work with crane operators using hand signals or radio communications and use a range of rigging equipment and industrial tools. Work takes place in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. The work may involve very cold temperatures, arctic gear, uneven or slippery surfaces, prolonged standing and driving, climbing, working overhead, and handling loads. The position requires the physical abilities described in the posting. Company vehicles are equipped with in-cab cameras and monitoring systems that may record video and audio and collect GPS and driving-behavior data; management may review the data for safety and policy compliance.

Requirements

One to two years of experience safely rigging and signaling lifting equipment and materials.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Valid driver's license and ability to be covered by Worley's auto insurer.
Knowledge of rigging devices and components, including wire ropes, chains, slings, hooks, sockets, thimbles, spreader bars, sheaves, pulleys, and lifting equipment.
Knowledge of standard safe rigging and lifting methods for materials and equipment such as structural steel, pipe, conduit, vessels, rotating equipment, and heaters.
Knowledge of the proper use and care of industrial construction tools and equipment, including chain falls, jacks, slings, chokers, shackles, and clips.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, rigging diagrams, and lifting-capacity charts.
Ability to give and understand common hand signals related to lifting equipment and materials.
Ability to stand, walk on level, uneven, and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and maintain normal balance and coordination.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods and drive for prolonged periods in darkness and inclement weather.
Ability to climb scaffolds, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.
Ability to wear and use fall protection within manufacturer specifications.
Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist and from floor to shoulder with two hands; carry 50 pounds for 15 feet; push or pull a 60-pound sled for 20 feet; and push or pull a 90-pound cart for 20 feet.

Responsibilities

Erect, raise, join, and place structural components to form completed structures or frameworks.
Lift and move equipment or materials using cranes and other lifting or hoisting devices.
Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to the weight and size of the load.
Set up and brace or rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
Use and care for industrial construction tools and equipment, including air tools, torque wrenches, cutting torches, chain hoists, and come-alongs.
Give and receive directions to and from crane operators using hand signals or radio communications.
Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or materials at petrochemical facilities or construction projects.
Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
Attach loads to crane hooks using lifting devices such as wire rope, nylon slings, shackles, and chains.
Direct cranes and equipment to complete tasks safely and efficiently around a facility or construction project.
