Rides Operator - Part Time
About The Position
This is a part-time variable hourly position (20-29 hours per week) for a Rides Operator within the Guest Experience department at the Zoo. The role involves greeting guests, operating thrilling rides, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. Ideal candidates are committed to the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. While not involved in animal care, the Attractions team is crucial for Zoo operations, providing excellent customer service and maintaining a family-friendly, safe environment. A cooperative, team-oriented, friendly, and courteous attitude is highly desirable. This is an entry-level position, and prior customer service experience is a plus. The pay rate is $13.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a valid Indiana driver's license with a record insurable through the Zoo's insurance
Nice To Haves
- A cooperative and team-oriented personality, along with a friendly and courteous attitude
- Any experience working in customer service
Responsibilities
- Operate/ monitor mechanical rides and attractions (train ride & carousel)
- Ensure safety procedures are being followed at all attractions and rides by both staff and guests
- Provide friendly, professional service to Zoo guests and fellow staff members; guide, direct, and engage guests with a detailed and pleasant manner
- Work as a team but be able to work independently as well
- Provide support during special events at the zoo, such as ZooBoo and Christmas at the Zoo
