About The Position

Meeting Street is seeking a full-time RI State PreK Teacher to join their team. This role is responsible for creating a nurturing and educational environment for children of all abilities, helping them reach their fullest potential. The position involves implementing curriculum, partnering with families, and ensuring a safe and stimulating learning space in accordance with state regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development or related field.
  • Current RIDE teacher certification in early childhood education (PK -2).
  • RIELDS Foundations of Early Education and Implementing a Standards-Based Classroom (formerly RIELS level 2 or 3).
  • Valid CPR and First Aid training/certification.
  • Must always provide supervision of children.
  • Diaper, toilet, and assist children with feeding and dressing.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk continuously during the workday; bend, stoop, and squat continuously; kneel and reach above shoulder level occasionally; lift and/or transfer children, and push/pull equipment up to 50 pounds independently or up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another staff member or adaptive equipment frequently.

Nice To Haves

  • Special education certification (early childhood), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learns and demonstrates positive guidance techniques.
  • Demonstrates culturally informed discipline practices and the ability to neutralize the pattern of inequitable discipline of children of color.
  • Facilitates interactions among children to provide opportunities for emotional, social and cognitive growth.
  • Partners with families to ensure high quality care and education for young children.
  • Creates and implements a curriculum that promotes active learning by providing a variety of developmentally appropriate learning experiences making appropriate accommodations and modifications as necessary using RI Early Learning Standards as guidance.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and child-friendly learning environment in accordance with state regulations.
  • Always maintains supervision of children (indoor/outdoor) using licensing ratios. Provides adequate, hands-on supervision during outdoor play.
  • Prepares snacks, serves lunch, and models appropriate hand washing techniques in accordance with health and safety practices outlined in state licensing regulations.
  • Fosters the development of age-appropriate self-help skills in children.
  • Works on carry over from therapeutic interventions in the classroom according to children’s IEP/IFSPs.
  • Actively seeks and participates in 20+ hours of professional development opportunities per year.
  • Actively participates in and supports efforts to maintain NAEYC accreditation.
  • Works closely with team members in implementing appropriate IEP/IFSP goals for children.
