About The Position

The RHVAC Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of technicians and providing excellent service to our partner in this area of the business. This includes coaching, counseling and providing on-the-job training for team members to successfully meet the goals and service levels established for the team. This is a working supervisor role, and as such, the supervisor is expected to assist with or take on jobs during times that there are vacancies, their technicians are unavailable or there is an urgent need. The role requires an advanced understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure that all systems operate efficiently and safely.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass pre‑employment DMV check, drug screening, and background check
  • Refrigeration license as required by applicable state regulations
  • EPA Certification
  • OSHA 10‑Hour certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an apprenticeship or formal RHVAC training program
  • Authorized to work in the United States (no company sponsorship)
  • English proficiency (read, write, speak)
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • In‑depth working knowledge of supermarket rack refrigeration equipment
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
  • Ability to multi‑task and make sound decisions quickly
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of RHVAC technicians, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring that maintenance and repair schedules are met.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to technicians on the latest technologies, tools, and techniques in RHVAC.
  • Routinely inspect the work performed by RHVAC technicians and apprentices providing feedback and guidance where applicable.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support the professional development of team members.
  • Oversee the installation, inspection, testing, and servicing of RHVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, and related components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure that all systems are functioning within safety, regulatory, company, and contract guidelines.
  • Provide advanced technical support for team members in diagnosing and repairing equipment failures.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and manuals to identify faults and recommend solutions for RHVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain records of system performance and repairs for reference and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and manage RHVAC projects from initiation to completion, including upgrades, installations, and system replacements.
  • Monitor progress, track budgets, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work with leadership team on proposals to obtain quotes when applicable.
  • Enforce safety protocols, ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure the team follows industry regulations, such as OSHA, EPA, and local building codes.
  • Conduct safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures when working on equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure the team has all necessary safety equipment, including PPE, tools, and equipment.
  • Complete safety training provided by company.
  • Manage the inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts required for RHVAC maintenance.
  • Ensure that the team has access to necessary materials and tools for efficient operations.
  • Order and track replacement parts and equipment as required, optimizing inventory levels to avoid delays.
  • Assist in budget planning and managing maintenance costs for RHVAC systems.
  • Monitor expenditures and suggest cost-effective solutions for maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure that work is completed within allocated budgets and timelines.
