About The Position

Oversees and coordinates all clinical care outside of the clinic office visit to provide concierge customer service while ensuring that quality and patient safety expectations are met. Coordinate and communicate timely with patients, providers, and third parties on all incoming inquiries as well as following up on action items throughout the patient’s recovery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years in rheumatology preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications, including working in an EMR
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Pharmaceutical knowledge
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to walk frequently and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist patients weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Must have full range of motion.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, the ability to interpret and understand written material.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others, including patients and co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, documenting, and handling all rheumatology calls.
  • Screening and directing calls for rheumatology.
  • Taking messages and processing them appropriately.
  • Administering rheumatology injections and training patients for self-injection medications.
  • Issuing prescriptions, physical therapy orders, lab orders, work restrictions, and other orders per physician instruction and assisting in patient education.
  • Ensuring all medication requests received before 4 p.m. and all internal tasks are responded to on the same business day. If an answer cannot be obtained, the patient is notified that their question will be addressed the next business day.
  • Assisting with making appointments, including diagnostic studies and follow-ups for patients when needed.
  • Queuing rheumatology lab results into the system through EMR interface.
  • Calling patients with lab results per physician instructions.
  • Reviewing Dexa screening forms and scheduling Dexa scans.
  • Monitoring assigned voicemails and returning calls same day.
  • Scheduling Peer-to-Peer calls when necessary.
  • Obtaining pre-certification on Prolia that insurance requires.
  • Backing up auth coverage for infusion auth.
  • Assisting with physician clinic needs as necessary.
  • Working with physician staff to ensure quality patient care and services are provided.
  • Ensuring compliance with clinic standards of quality patient care.
  • Assisting physician with treating patients as directed.
  • Maintaining all information in the strictest confidentiality.
  • Some travel to other locations required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
