About The Position

St. Mary’s Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Rheumatologist to establish and lead our new rheumatology practice. This is a unique opportunity to build a practice from the ground up and address a significant unmet need within the community. You will provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient rheumatologic care, working closely with primary care and specialty providers to ensure coordinated treatment for patients with complex autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Rheumatologist licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of New York
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution
  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and patient-centered communication skills
  • Advanced clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to manage a diverse rheumatology patient population with complex medical needs.
  • Strong clinical judgment, empathy, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered rheumatologic care.
  • Adherence to Standard Precautions and utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are mandatory to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in establishing a new practice or program development is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a new rheumatology practice within St. Mary’s Healthcare.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of rheumatic diseases and conditions, including arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide patient education and counseling, ensuring patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols.
  • Stay current with emerging treatments and advancements in rheumatology.
  • Engage in community outreach and education programs to promote musculoskeletal health.
