About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Rheumatologist to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and North Central Bronx Hospital (NCB) has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to provide comprehensive health services of the highest quality to all New Yorkers, regardless of ability to pay, in an atmosphere of humane care, dignity, and respect. This is a full-time Clinical Educator position within the Department of Medicine. The Division of Rheumatology is an academic practice sponsored by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and supported by Montefiore Medical Center Rheumatology Fellows. The practice encompasses both inpatient and outpatient care, including clinical supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students. The division manages a significant patient load, including routine biologic infusion therapy, and operates specialized clinics for Lupus, Joint Pain, Ultrasound Evaluation and Treatment, and Arthritis. The inpatient service at Jacobi averages 7 consults per day, while North Central Bronx averages 3-5 consults per day. The division is part of the Department of Medicine and plans to expand to four full-time Rheumatologists. The Department of Medicine is a large department with 110 full-time physicians and 162 medical residents across 15 divisions. Jacobi and North Central Bronx serve as teaching sites for eight fellowships under the Albert Einstein College of Medicine–Montefiore program.

Requirements

  • Board certification in Internal Medicine.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Rheumatology.
  • Active New York State medical license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care in Rheumatology.
  • Supervise fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Manage active Lupus Clinics, Joint Pain Clinics, Ultrasound Evaluation and Treatment Clinics, and Arthritis Clinics.
  • Handle an average of 7 inpatient consults per day at Jacobi and 3-5 at North Central Bronx.
  • Serve as a Clinical Educator within the Department of Medicine.

Benefits

  • Annual Base Salary: $247,000 (Board Eligible) and $252,000 (Board Certified) based on 40-hour work week.
  • Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
  • Estimated annual compensation package includes baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors.
  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $55,520.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
