About The Position

BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems is seeking a talented and motivated RF Systems Analyst to support development of RF payload solutions. The role supports RF payload system and box/board-level design and analysis, RF signal-chain performance analysis, and systems engineering work across program and research and development lifecycles. The engineer contributes to requirements development and allocation, margin management, payload performance analysis and verification, interface documentation, and technical reviews. The position involves collaboration with experts in calibration, optical, thermal, and focal plane subsystems, as well as AI&T engineers, and may include leading development, test, and evaluation of hardware, software, support equipment, and systems. The position is on-site five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location. Travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be required. Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or a remote research environment. Occasional work in production areas requiring protective equipment and access to facilities in various weather conditions may be necessary. A minimum $25,000 sign-on bonus is being offered for external hires. The role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, subject to business performance and management recommendations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related field, plus 10 or more years of related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, such as a master's degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience; related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Degree must be from a university, college, or school accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or U.S. Department of Education.
  • Current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Polygraph.
  • Familiarity with computer applications such as Python, Matlab, C, C++, IDL, STK, DOORS, and other analytical tools.
  • Experience in multiple lifecycle phases of RF, tactical, or electro-optical system programs, from concept development and program kick-off through post-delivery support.
  • Experience with data analysis and modeling related to image processing, calibration, remote sensing, optical payload test, or focal plane assembly (FPA) test.
  • Demonstrated technical and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a team, predict and meet schedules, and resolve disconnects.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to understand team needs, ask insightful questions, and clearly communicate proposed solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • 10–15 years of experience with RF sensing payload and mission architecture for the intelligence community.

Responsibilities

  • Support RF payload system and box/board-level design and analysis.
  • Analyze RF signal-chain performance to assess and develop requirements, including noise figure, gain, and IP2/IP3.
  • Perform systems engineering tasks throughout a program or research and development project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to decomposition and allocation of RF payload requirements to lower-level specifications, refining requirements as necessary.
  • Develop and monitor the margin management philosophy throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Synthesize and analyze payload system performance, including spatial, spectral, and radiometric performance, for compliance and requirements verification.
  • Contribute to analyses for developing error trees and Technical Performance Measures (TPM).
  • Explore system interfaces and develop payload Interface Control Documents (ICD).
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts in calibration, optical, thermal, and focal plane subsystems.
  • Work with AI&T engineers on test configurations, verification approaches, and analysis plans for payload verification.
  • Lead development, test, and evaluation of hardware, software, support equipment, and systems as required.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to peers, management, and/or customers.
  • Support program gates, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and payload sell-off.
  • Learn about payload technical proposal development, including estimates of systems team labor and schedule.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the department, Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the company.
  • Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
