About The Position

Apple is seeking a motivated intern to join its RF System Validation group, which develops cellular modems for future mobile devices. The role supports validation of the receiver embedded in Apple’s cellular RF subsystem and contributes to testing and characterization across cellular radio access technologies. It combines software development and automation with hands-on work on RF systems, test equipment, and development platforms. The intern will help engineers identify relevant validation use cases from system specifications, develop and debug automated tests, and maintain and expand regression campaigns and quality gates. The role also involves creating tools to characterize downlink performance, analyzing logs and datasets to investigate functional or performance issues, tracking test execution metrics, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and documenting verification methods and best practices.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Excellent Python programming skills.
  • Strong understanding of software development fundamentals, including scripting for automation.
  • Ability to work with data post-processing, statistical analysis, and visualization, including large datasets.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply software debugging skills to complex problems in a collaborative team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Availability for six months or more.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with C/C++ or Matlab.
  • Foundational understanding of or strong interest in RF, such as wireless systems or signal processing.
  • Familiarity with laboratory environments and RF test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
  • Experience working with international teams.

Responsibilities

  • Study system specifications and help identify relevant system use cases for validation.
  • Implement and debug automated tests and develop meaningful regression campaigns.
  • Expand test coverage and support installed quality gates through improved automation.
  • Develop automation tools to characterize downlink system performance and manage the multidimensional RF solution space.
  • Develop scripts to parse logs, analyze data, and visualize RF key performance indicators when investigating functional or performance issues.
  • Help define and report test execution metrics and clear verdicts, and track test status and progress.
  • Collaborate with System Engineering, HW, FW, and SW development teams to help resolve RF-related problems.
  • Use software automation to control RF test equipment and development platforms.
  • Document verification-flow methodology and best practices.
