Job Description: Performs a variety of functions associated with all engineering test operations, including test and troubleshooting RF circuits at a PCB and component level.  The ideal candidate must possess the initiative to learn with the capability to practically apply the latest information learned on a daily basis. Maintains clear and effective communication with contacts inside and outside of the department.  Work alongside engineers to provide a definition of test set-up and calibration tasks as well as collaborating with quality managers and inspection to ensure engineering standards and customer specifications are met.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma and a minimum of 8 years of experience with formal electronics training via military, trade school or equivalent.
  • Must have a solid understanding and working knowledge of RF test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, RF generators, digital oscilloscopes, frequency meters and Power meters.
  • Must have a solid understanding of RF measurements, including gain, noise figure, P1dB, 2nd and 3rd order intercept, harmonics and other relevant parameters.
  • Possess analog and digital troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and other engineering documentation required.
  • Good soldering techniques and able to do solder rework using a microscope.
  • Team-oriented attitude.
  • Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of safety practices and a demonstrated commitment to maintain them.
  • ESD Awareness.
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assembling and tuning RF or microwave components and prototype systems.
  • Using network analyzers, power meters, and signal generators to diagnose and fix circuit or component failures.
  • Modify equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as defined by predetermined diagrams and schematics.
  • Dismantle, adjust, repairs, and assemble equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings.
  • Correct malfunctions by making adjustments or replacing parts or components.
  • Works with engineers in conducting experiments. 
  • Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing or testing process.
  • Compiles and records test results. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
  • Utilizes automated test programs to evaluate product performance against specifications and to collect data demonstrating product performance.
