Rocket Lab is seeking an RF Radar Engineer I to support development of radar and RF systems, including synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and space-based radar applications. Based at the company's global headquarters in Long Beach, California, the engineer will work with experienced radar engineers on radar subsystem development, analysis and simulation, and hands-on testing and integration. The role calls for foundational knowledge of radar systems and RF engineering, a basic understanding of orbital mechanics and spacecraft systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position supports radar system development from architecture and prototyping through integration, testing, and flight development. It also involves radar analysis and simulation, mission analysis, payload testing and calibration, technical documentation, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams and customers or program stakeholders. The engineer will learn spacecraft integration considerations and space-based radar best practices under the mentorship of senior engineers. This role may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, as well as occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas. The position requires U.S. citizenship due to program requirements and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. The listed California base pay range is $88,000–$132,000. Rocket Lab offers company stock as part of total compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
