RF Electrical Engineer II - Onsite

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$68,900 - $131,100•Onsite

About The Position

Join Raytheon's RF/Microwave Engineering team to develop mission-critical technologies for radar and sensing applications. The role designs, develops, integrates, tests, and/or supports manufacture of advanced RF and microwave hardware. Work may involve RF circuit card assemblies and modules for receivers, exciters, and transmitters; antennas and radomes; semiconductor devices; MMICs; and phased-array hardware. The engineer collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, test, and program teams throughout the hardware development lifecycle, from concept development and detailed design through integration, verification, and transition to production. The position is onsite in Tucson, Arizona, and requires an active and transferable U.S. government security clearance before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related STEM discipline, obtained by the start date.
  • Coursework in one or more of: RF Circuit Design, Microwave Circuits, Electromagnetics, Antenna Engineering, Microwave Measurements, RF Engineering, Radar Signal Processing, or Radar Design.
  • Experience in at least one of the following domains: RF/microwave design and measurement; antennas and applied electromagnetics; or radar architecture and signal processing.
  • Experience building, testing, or characterizing electronic hardware, RF circuits, or antenna systems using standard test benches or measurement facilities.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required before the start date; ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on laboratory experience characterizing RF/microwave devices or circuits using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and automated test environments.
  • Proficiency with RF/electromagnetic design and analysis software such as Keysight ADS, ANSYS HFSS, CST Studio Suite, Microwave Office, Cadence Virtuoso, or MATLAB.
  • Experience scripting and automating laboratory test equipment using Python, C++, or LabVIEW.
  • Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, research projects, or engineering team initiatives.
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and technical communication skills in multidisciplinary engineering settings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and analyze RF/microwave components, MMICs, CCAs, and/or phased-array module hardware.
  • Assemble, test, and characterize RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave hardware and/or devices.
  • Perform component-level and system-level integration and testing for digital, analog, and RF assemblies.
  • Use automated test instrumentation and software such as Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW to control measurement systems, capture data, and evaluate results.
  • Characterize and test hardware using laboratory equipment, including VNAs, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, and PNAs.
  • Conduct circuit simulations, obsolescence trade assessments, hardware troubleshooting, and failure investigations to resolve performance issues.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in project design reviews, peer reviews, and briefings to internal program leadership and external customers.
