About The Position

Join our RF/Microwave Engineering team at Raytheon and help develop mission-critical technologies that protect the U.S. and our international allies. In this role, you will design, develop, integrate, test, and/or support the manufacture of advanced RF and microwave hardware for radar and sensing applications. You may work across a broad range of technologies, including RF circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and modules for receivers, exciters, and transmitters; antennas and radomes; semiconductor devices; microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits (MMICs); and phased-array hardware. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, test, and program teams throughout the full hardware development lifecycle—from concept development and detailed design through integration, verification, and transition to production. This is an opportunity to solve challenging RF problems, work hands-on with advanced hardware, and contribute directly to some of Raytheon’s premier radar and sensing programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline. Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Coursework in one or more of the following: RF Circuit Design, Microwave Circuits, Electromagnetics, Antenna Engineering, Microwave Measurements, RF Engineering, Radar Signal Processing, or Radar Design.
  • Experience in at least one of the following technical domains: RF/Microwave Design & Measurement: Designing, fabricating, or bench-testing RF/microwave circuits or components (e.g., amplifiers, filters, mixers, couplers), including S-parameter or microwave measurements using network/spectrum analyzers.
  • Antennas & Applied Electromagnetics: Modeling, simulating, or testing antennas or electromagnetic structures using computational tools (e.g., HFSS, CST Studio, ADS, FEKO) or anechoic chamber measurements.
  • Radar Architecture & Signal Processing: Modeling or implementing radar signal processing algorithms (e.g., pulse compression, Doppler processing, beamforming, CFAR, waveform design) using simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python) or embedded hardware.
  • Experience building, testing, or characterizing electronic hardware, RF circuits, or antenna systems using standard test benches or measurement facilities.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on laboratory experience specific to RF/microwave device or circuit characterization using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and automated test environments.
  • Proficiency with RF/electromagnetic design and analysis software such as Keysight ADS, ANSYS HFSS, CST Studio Suite, Microwave Office, Cadence Virtuoso, or MATLAB.
  • Experience scripting and automating laboratory test equipment using Python, C++, or LabVIEW.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, research projects, or engineering team initiatives.
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal, and technical communication skills working in multi-disciplinary engineering settings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and analyze RF/microwave components, MMICs, CCAs, and/or phased array module hardware.
  • Perform assembly, testing and characterization, of RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave hardware and/or devices.
  • Execute component-level and system-level integration and testing for digital, analog, and RF assemblies.
  • Utilize automated test instrumentation and software (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) to control measurement systems, capture data, and evaluate test results.
  • Characterize and test hardware using advanced laboratory equipment, including Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Signal Generators, Spectrum Analyzers, Phase Noise Analyzers, and Performance Network Analyzers (PNAs).
  • Conduct circuit simulations, obsolescence trade assessments, hardware troubleshooting, and failure investigations to resolve performance issues.
