RF Design Engineer I

Mini-Circuits•Hialeah, FL
•$90,000 - $98,000

About The Position

RF Design Engineer I is an entry-level engineering position supporting the design, modeling, simulation, characterization, validation, verification, and design-related documentation of ceramic-based RF and millimeter-wave single-function passive components, packages, and multifunction modules. The role is intended for recent graduates with strong RF fundamentals, curiosity, and a proactive mindset. The engineer works under close guidance from a Senior Engineer while developing hands-on experience with RF simulation tools, laboratory measurements, and Mini-Circuits’ product development processes. The position supports RF design and development activities, runs electromagnetic and circuit-level simulations, assists with laboratory measurements, and analyzes simulated and measured data. It also supports product characterization, qualification, test development, documentation, audits, and collaboration across engineering and business teams. The stated salary range is $90,000–$98,000 per year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • 0–1 year of experience specializing in RF design, including relevant RF coursework, industry exposure to RF/microwave circuit design, or RF-related academic capstone projects.
  • Strong academic foundation in RF and microwave engineering principles.
  • Theoretical and basic practical knowledge of common RF circuits such as filters, couplers, power dividers, and baluns.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools based on Method of Moments (MoM) and Finite Element Method (FEM).
  • Demonstrated experience using RF measurement test equipment.
  • Proficiency in scripting and data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or other coding languages.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Professional, positive, self-motivated, team-oriented approach, with relationship-building ability and a strong sense of discipline, accountability, and ownership.
  • Strong relationship management, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach, including seeking clarification, asking questions, and following up on action items.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn, especially in RF design; focus on learning, execution, and technical skill development.
  • Ability to break down technical problems methodically and produce clear technical documentation.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, and able to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple parallel tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to comply with corporate safety initiatives and the Company’s Code of Conduct.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing active components such as low-noise amplifiers or power amplifiers, RF systems, or modules.
  • Academic publications in the RF domain.

Responsibilities

  • Support RF design and development of passive RF and millimeter-wave components, packages, and multifunction modules under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
  • Execute electromagnetic and circuit-level simulations using tools such as Ansys HFSS, Genesys, ADS, or CST.
  • Model designs and run simulation sweeps, parametric studies, and optimizations as directed; analyze and summarize results.
  • Assist with RF measurements and characterization using laboratory equipment such as VNAs, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze measured and simulated data to support design reviews, reports, and design-related decisions.
  • Prepare documentation to support Mini-Circuits’ Product Generation Process (PGP).
  • Support product characterization, qualification, and test development activities with Product, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test Engineers.
  • Work with the Project Management team to plan and complete assigned tasks within committed timelines and budget.
  • Support engineering organization ISO audits and management reviews, and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Assist senior engineers in drafting company procedures and processes to maintain design and manufacturing standards.
  • Collaborate with peers on intellectual property related to materials and processes, circuit topologies, design methodologies, simulation and modeling techniques, device characterization, and production testing strategies.
  • Create scripts and run simulations to optimize passive RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave component performance.
