About The Position

Lunar Outpost is seeking an experienced RF communications engineer to lead communications systems for the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV). The role manages the vehicle’s Direct to Earth, Relay to Earth, and lunar surface communications systems in a dynamic startup environment. The position contributes to the design, integration, testing, and validation of RF communications systems for space vehicles and rover systems, while supporting customer solutions and business development.

Requirements

• Understanding of space system requirements and ability to bring complex systems together to meet them.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience building and testing RF systems, including using and building test racks.
• Ability to define and conduct tests that validate antenna and RF designs against mission requirements.
• Experience creating detailed test plans, schedules, and resource allocations while meeting cost and regulatory standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Excellent management skills and experience with management software.
• Experience developing and managing vendor requirements and specifications.
• Self-motivated, focused, and driven to meet critical deadlines.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Engineering, with a focus on RF payloads or antenna theory.

Responsibilities

• Design RF communication systems for satellites and rover systems.
• Manage and integrate satellite and rover systems to meet requirements.
• Develop and validate antenna and RF designs using trade studies, modeling, and simulation.
• Build and test RF systems, including antenna and payload communications subsystems.
• Create test plans and specify hardware and software in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
• Support business development through customer solutions and engagement.
• Manage communications systems for the LTV, including Direct to Earth, Relay to Earth, and lunar surface communications.
