About The Position

The Rework Welder is responsible for repairing castings to meet customer specifications by replacing metal in defective areas using various welding techniques. This role involves ensuring the quality and integrity of repaired castings according to strict industry standards.

Requirements

  • Advanced welding skills as demonstrated by completion of the PCC approved Welding Tech Series and Welding Certification in two applicable alloys or titanium at time of hire, AND Two years of applicable welding experience.
  • OR An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience, and completion of Certification to PCC Weld Test Standards.
  • 20/30 correctable vision in both eyes, and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision tests.
  • Good eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to read and follow specifications on Tech Cards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to eighty pounds.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, awkward physical positions and other elements for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Welding castings to customer and PCC specifications using techniques such as GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and PAW.
  • Reviewing inspection/rework analyst paperwork and tech cards to understand repair requirements.
  • Identifying and inspecting prepared areas needing repair on castings.
  • Placing castings on benches, fixtures, or in bubble cabinets for welding, using mirrors for difficult areas as needed.
  • Ensuring welds comply with Process Control Procedures and external quality control standards, including aerospace standards.
  • Inspecting completed welds for proper technique and adequate metal deposit.
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs on welding equipment, such as torch heads and power cables.
  • Adhering to plant and department safety rules and operating equipment safely.
  • Identifying and reporting safety problems.
  • Completing logs and records.
  • Performing other tasks as directed.
