About The Position

Operates a rewinder machine, reworking individual rolls of finished flexible packaging material to remove or correct any defects and producing rolls adhering to required specifications.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain rework schedule from supervisor and determine appropriate unwind roll configuration using code number from production order and unwind roll chart.
  • Ability to determine defects on roll to be reworked from code number supplied by Slitter Operator and/or observation.
  • Ability to load rolls (approximately 32-75 pounds) manually onto unwind shaft, obtaining assistance if necessary. For rolls over 75 pounds, a hoist must be used.
  • Ability to thread machine with material and adjust rider roll pressure, pneumatic brake, and tension on dancer roll as required.
  • Ability to rewind film onto empty core, maintaining desired speed and tension and insuring impression count is accurate.
  • Ability to remove, with shoe knife, any irreparable or flagged material including print, laminating and finishing defects, limiting splices per finished roll to three or less.
  • Ability to remove belled edge appearance by trimming belled edge slightly.
  • Ability to inspect material, while running, for other defects such as heat seal skipout or inaccurate slitting.
  • Ability to produce roll of packaging material with desired conformation and check finished roll to insure correct unwind configuration.
  • Ability to remove roll from rewind shaft and weigh, attaching necessary identification sticker to inside of core.
  • Ability to weigh waste material and accurately record weight on production report.
  • Ability to carry roll to pack-out area.
  • Ability to select and assemble appropriate shipping boxes, wrap roll in protective material, insert core plugs, and secure roll(s) in shipping container by stretch wrapping, banding, or taping as instructed.
  • Ability to fill out roll lists, recording weights and roll numbers accurately, and attach required material identification to side of box.
  • Ability to transport shipping container(s) to designated storage or holding area.
  • Ability to maintain machinery and related equipment as prescribed.
  • Ability to keep work areas and related equipment in neat and orderly condition.
  • Ability to cut cores as necessary and perform impression checks of slit rolls when needed.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
