About The Position

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a Civil Engineer L1 to serve as a Revocable Consent Specialist within its Office of Cityscape & Franchises. This office manages programs related to the design, installation, operation, and management of various citywide elements. The role involves reviewing and managing applications for revocable consents, floodwall mitigation systems, renewable energy transmission lines, and vault licenses. The selected candidate will also review EAS and EIS documents, and Capital Roadway Reconstruction plans for potential conflicts with existing vaults and consent infrastructure. This position requires collaboration with various City agencies and internal DOT units to ensure all necessary approvals for consent petitions and vault applications are obtained. The specialist will also be responsible for generating Revocable Consent Agreements and Vault licenses.

Requirements

  • Serving permanently in the title of Civil Engineer, or be reachable on the Civil Engineer Civil Service List.
  • Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.
  • A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License.
  • Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of civil engineering experience.
  • At least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project (for Assignment Levels II and III).
