About The Position

At the Louisiana Department of Revenue, we are dedicated to fairly and efficiently administering the state’s tax laws to ensure compliance while providing exceptional customer service. We’re looking for a Revenue Tax Specialist to join our to join our Individual Tax Enforcement Division.

Requirements

  • Six semester hours in accounting, business, economics, finance, management, information systems management, or quantitative methods.
  • Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
  • Six years of full-time work experience in any field.
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate action to stop all collection and legal action as soon as notice of a bankruptcy petition being filed is received.
  • Compute liabilities due to the date of the bankruptcy adjudication, review taxpayers' accounts for filing records, records of payments, etc., to verify taxes reported and payments made.
  • Determine discharge of liabilities and when to resume enforcement of collections and legal activity.
  • Review and analyzes the bankruptcy disclosure statements and plans for reorganization.
