About The Position

At the Louisiana Department of Revenue, we are dedicated to fairly and efficiently administering the state’s tax laws to ensure compliance while providing exceptional customer service. We’re looking for a Revenue Tax Officer Supervisor to join our Individual Tax Enforcement Division to supervise employees who provide timely and accurate information to the taxpaying public and tax practitioners as it relates to taxes and fees administered by the Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) as set forth by tax law' rules, regulations and LDR policies. It is also responsible for handling the billing inquiries, enforcement and collection of taxes due for individual income tax.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR An advanced degree or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law plus one year of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize work inventories and set procedures for the section, including assigning duties, establishing priorities, and implementing procedural changes.
  • Monitor all work inventories and redirect resources to ensure appropriate staff is available to provide timely service to taxpayers.
  • Develop, motivate, and coach Tax Officers and Tax Analysts to help them continuously improve their skills.
  • Compile and report weekly/monthly work volume statistics.
