Revenue Recognition Accountant
About The Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivating Revenue Recognition Accountant to join our Accounting team. This position will support revenue accounting activities with a strong focus on ASC 606 compliance, revenue recognition, account reconciliations, and month-end close. This position will report directly to the Revenue Recognition Manager. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with ASC 606 and a solid foundation in general accounting principles. Experience within a technology, SaaS, software, subscription-based, or other recurring-revenue environment with non-standard and complex contracts is strongly preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who has already gained practical revenue recognition experience and is looking to continue developing within a growing organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA eligible
- 1 – 3 years of professional accounting experience
- Hands-on knowledge and experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Experience with non-standard, complex contracts
- Understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (Ex. Lookups, pivot tables, and etc.)
- Strong data analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to operate independently, manage deadlines, and competing priorities in a remote work environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Continuous improvement and learning mindset
- Willingness to work Eastern Standard Time zone in USA

- Experience within the technology, SaaS, software, cloud, or subscription-based industry
- Experience working with deferred revenue, contract assets, unbilled revenue, or recurring revenue models
- Experience reviewing customer contracts for accounting implications
- Experience with Oracle Fusion, SAP, or another major ERP system
- Salesforce or other CRM experience
- Experience supporting financial statement audits
Responsibilities
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Support revenue recognition activities in accordance with ASC 606 and U.S. GAAP
- Review customer contracts and supporting documentation to assist in determining appropriate revenue recognition treatment
- Prepare and maintain revenue schedules and reconciliations, including deferred revenue and recognized revenue
- Create accurate and complete documentation supporting revenue recognition conclusions and journal entries
- Research and resolve discrepancies between contracts, billing information, and other related accounting records
- Assist with contract modifications and changes that impact revenue recognition
- Support internal and external audit requests by preparing schedules and documentation
- Collaborate with Finance, Billing, Sales, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to resolve revenue and billing questions
- Assist with improving revenue accounting processes, controls, reporting, and documentation
- Perform additional accounting and financial analysis or take on ad-hoc projects as needed
- Assist with ERP Implementation
