About The Position

Department of Revenue is recruiting for a District Office Manager – Revenue Manager 1 position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Personal Tax and Compliance Division in the Compliance section. This position is headquartered in our Portland State Office Building; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in-state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely. Managers in this section are expected to work in the office on an as needed basis, including in-person meetings with staff and customers, training, and planned events. In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered.

Requirements

  • Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR two years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Must reside within the state of Oregon (current Revenue employees living outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered).

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage the district office including specific banking procedures and all internal controls.
  • Supervises and provides leadership to a unit of tax auditors and public service representatives.
  • Uses data and effective communication to set goals; upholds standards and expectations.
  • Participates as a member of the Compliance Section management team. The purpose of the team is to provide effective management of the compliance function and ensure equitable, high-quality service to Oregon taxpayers.
  • Responsible for various projects assigned within the section. Duties include establishing project goals, ensuring good project coordination, reporting progress/problems, and providing feedback.
  • Identifies and recommends the adoption or change in policy.
  • Executes the portion of the operational plan assigned to their team and ensures that the audits reflect the type and complexity identified in the operational plan.
  • Acts as the office manager for the agency to deal with issues common to all divisions within the office; this includes the responsibility for lease negotiations, facilitating purchases, and managing office resources, including cars and office supplies.
  • Supports other agency managers with employees in the office.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of the office, staff, facilities, cars, and confidential records. Typical for the manager to resolve security issues, contacting emergency personnel, determining who has access to the office; establishing local processes to ensure responses are appropriate and in line with agency direction.
