About The Position

In this Revenue Fiscal Analyst 1 role, you will have the chance to shape tax administration and compliance programs statewide. As part of our Bureau of Registration and Taxpayer Management, Discovery Division, this role analyzes existing operations as well as develops, implements, and manages discovery projects. Your efforts with our team will help promote voluntary compliance while supporting fairness across tax collection systems.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in economics, business administration, statistics, mathematics, or computer science; or
  • One year of technical experience in fiscal analysis and a bachelor's degree including thirty credits in economics, statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment.
  • Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed financial, statistical, and operational analyses of enforcement programs and operations.
  • Determine and recommend the most effective and efficient allocation of resources for each initiative.
  • Work with internal and external teams to share best practices and select and study specific cases.
  • Assist with planning, developing, and implementing enforcement, collections, and examination and audit strategies.
  • Lead the design and implementation of bureau tax compliance programs based on tax gaps, available data, and personnel and system resources.
  • Prepare reports of findings, present projects’ status and results, and draft notices, forms, and correspondence.
