The purpose of this classification is to collect delinquent license and tax accounts and to enforce city revenue ordinances through field activities, including the issuances of final notices and citations. This role involves conducting field investigations of businesses for compliance with revenue ordinances, verifying business activity, and determining associated taxes and licenses. It also includes responding to complaints, investigating questionable business activities, and coordinating with the business community, police department, and other city departments. The officer will interview license applicants, explain procedures, calculate fees, and issue business licenses. A key responsibility is the pursuit of collection for all delinquent licenses, taxes, penalties, and interest due under Chapter 7 of the city code, exercising independent judgment in collection methods. The role requires documenting contacts, organizing documentation for legal action, issuing citations/final notices, filing complaints, and testifying in court. Additionally, the officer will provide guidance on licensing and tax requirements, maintain confidentiality of financial information, and stay current with applicable laws and regulations. The position requires operating a motor vehicle for work activities and recommending policies and procedures to support departmental services. Continuous quality improvement principles are to be incorporated into daily activities. The role requires accomplishing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations, meeting regular attendance requirements, and maintaining good interpersonal relationships.
