About The Position

McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is currently searching for a Full-time Revenue Cycle Specialist to work in a hybrid role for the Revenue Cycle Management department at its headquarters in Charlotte, NC. The mission of McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is to build a foundation of healing and hope based on equity, education, and evidence-based practice for all communities. A nonprofit founded in 1969 in Charlotte, North Carolina, they have grown to be one of the largest providers of comprehensive substance use disorder treatment in western North Carolina. From initial assessment to customized aftercare, McLeod Centers provides compassionate, steadfast support for patients’ journey to recovery.

Requirements

  • Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in behavioral health/SUD billing and denial management preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance billing, coding, and payer guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • associate’s degree preferred
  • CRCR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and resolve claim denials; initiate appeals and follow up to secure payment.
  • Analyze denial trends and root causes; recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with payer, state, and federal guidelines for behavioral health claims.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure accurate documentation and coding.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and pre-authorizations; Submit clean claims, reconcile payments, and address underpayments or payment discrepancies.
  • Stay current on payer requirements and behavioral health billing best practices.
  • Support patient account inquiries and provide billing statements.
  • Assist with insurance verification, collections, and AR follow-up.
  • Participate in staff training on denial prevention and RCM workflows.
