About The Position

This position is responsible for researching and implementing changes to the Meditech system to fulfill requests from operating departments. It involves assisting with testing and implementing system updates, understanding Meditech application functionality and integration between applications, and understanding the technical integration of 3rd party software. The role also requires understanding billing and claims rules for hospital acute and physician settings, creating and maintaining dictionaries, and assisting in the development of training materials. Communication with vendors regarding software issues and project updates to the Director of IT Applications is also a key part of the role. The specialist must demonstrate the ability to set priorities, complete assignments within acceptable time limits, and perform in a fast-paced integrated team environment utilizing project management principles and software. Good judgment in handling situations not covered by instructions and effective communication with various stakeholders are essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in application support as programmer, analyst, accounting, or a related field.
  • Must be able to implement, maintain and support Revenue Cycle applications.
  • Analyzes processes which relate to these applications and consult with users regarding improvements to maximize efficiency.
  • Must be able to demonstrate both written and verbal effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • A 2–4-year degree in Computer Science from College or University is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Meditech 6.1 Revenue Cycle is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and implements changes to the Meditech system to fulfill requests from operating departments.
  • Assists with testing and implements system updates.

  • Creates and maintains dictionaries including customer defined screens and queries.
  • Assists in the development of training materials to educate users.
  • Communicates software issues to vendors and coordinates the delivery of fixes.
  • Effectively communicates project updates to Director of IT Applications.
  • Demonstrates the ability to set priorities and completes assignments within acceptable time limits.
  • Performs in a fast-paced integrated team understanding how to utilize project management principles and software.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate and effectively exchange information with Information Systems staff, other Meadville Medical Center staff, physicians, physician office staff, and other customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
