Requirements

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting, healthcare insurance company, or managed care organization.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, work independently, and effectively multitask.
Positive attitude and desire to be a team player.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, and other team members.
A commitment to patient-focused care, privacy, and safety.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a referral/authorization coordinator is strongly preferred.
Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) EPIC experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT procedure, and ICD-9 coding is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assisting clinics with verifying eligibility and insurance benefits.
Providing medical policies as needed to support clinic requests.
Documenting physician direct referrals, pre-certification, and authorizations of certain services via phone, fax, or written requests.
Identifying and requesting referrals/authorizations.
Communicating referrals or insurance issues to clinical staff.
Responding promptly to clinical requests.
Other duties as assigned.
