About The Position

Under the direction of the Accounting / Financial Ops Manager, the Revenue Analyst/Specialist position is responsible for performing technical, professional-level support to the Finance Department. This role oversees the collection of all revenues due to the City, including excise taxes, assessments, and other fees, ensuring timely and complete collection. The position coordinates with relevant agencies for tax collection and disbursement, manages the issuance of alcohol and business licenses, and periodically reviews processes for improvements. It also administers fees and charges related to utilities, private enterprises, and individuals, and develops and implements City policies for revenue payment and enforcement. The Revenue Analyst prepares weekly and monthly reports on revenue collected, analyzes trends, and manages the department to ensure efficient processing and high customer service. The role ensures all accounts are current and postings are accurate, prepares journal entries and accruals, and performs complex financial analysis for determining revenue collection and license processing trends. Additionally, it prepares statistical studies, trend analysis, and recommendations, supervises and assists with daily reconciliation of cashier collections, and reviews revenue receipts/receivables into the financial system. The analyst also reviews and assists with refund requests, supports management with special projects, and participates in securing proper licensing, assessment, and payment of business license taxes. This position provides subject matter expertise on the City’s revenue streams, ensures correct revenue amounts are received, assists in identifying new revenue sources, and works with City departments to maximize fee collection efficiency. The role also assists in the continual development of revenue management policies and procedures and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field and/or 3 years experience in local government revenues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in governmental accounting.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff effectively.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant financial software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Satisfactory credit and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field and/or 5 years experience of finance experience in local government revenues.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and assists with the reconciliation of revenue receipts/receivables into the financial system.
  • Analyzes and recommends approval or denial of business tax refund requests.
  • Provides management with support for special projects.
  • Participates in securing the proper licensing, assessment, and payment of business license taxes.
  • Provides subject matter expertise regarding the City’s revenue streams.
  • Ensures the correct revenue amounts are received and assists with the identification of new revenue sources.
  • Works with City departments to achieve maximum efficiency in fee collection.
