About The Position

This role supports the monthly revenue close and ASC 606 revenue accounting for a defined area of the business, with a focus on usage-based and AI-credit revenue. The position is needed due to rapid scaling and the increasing complexity of revenue recognition, requiring dedicated support to maintain accuracy and audit-readiness. A unique aspect of this role at Notion is the opportunity to help build an AI-native finance function and work at the intersection of billing systems, product usage, and accounting judgment, directly impacting the speed of product launches and iterations. The role is based in either San Francisco or New York City, with a hybrid work model requiring in-office presence on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays for collaborative work.

Requirements

3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting.
Working knowledge of ASC 606, with a desire to deepen judgment on subscription + usage-based revenue and contract changes.
Comfort with SQL (or eagerness to ramp quickly) to query datasets and investigate discrepancies.
Demonstrated ability to run detailed reconciliations, investigate breaks, and identify root causes with clear, audit-ready support.
Strong ownership and attention to detail, with the ability to reliably meet close deadlines without compromising quality.
AI fluency in practice: actively use AI tools to improve the quality and reliability of analyses, checks, and close workflows.

Nice To Haves

Experience with NetSuite (ARM), Salesforce CPQ, Stripe, or Metronome.
Exposure to usage-based or consumption pricing and the associated billing/rev-rec complexity.
SOX / internal controls experience.

Responsibilities

Support month-end close for a defined revenue recognition area with clean, audit-ready support.
Utilize AI to generate and validate SQL queries, automate variance checks, and build lightweight agents/workflows to flag discrepancies before they impact the close.
Produce reliable, well-documented reconciliations and audit support.
Contribute to SOX/control documentation.
