About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a Flight Operations Intern to support Flight Operations. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in the aviation industry, particularly in flight operations, drone technology, and mechanical maintenance. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support flight operations, contribute to safety protocols, and gain valuable insights into the aviation industry. This position is an onsite role. This position can be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below: (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Sophomore by start of internship (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship (Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship

Requirements

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Sophomore year by the start of summer 2026
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must have or be scheduled to take the FAA Part 107 certification test (Remote Pilot Certificate for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems).
  • Experience interacting with military aviation professionals or understanding of military aviation practices and protocols.
  • Strong experience with mechanical component maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of an aviation-related program (e.g., Aviation Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field).
  • Previous experience in flight operations or with unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
  • Practical experience with small engine repair, including knowledge of tools and techniques to service various mechanical systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and management of flight operations, ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day processes.
  • Support the planning and preparation of flight missions, including pre-flight checks and documentation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot small engines and mechanical components, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Work directly with military aviation professionals and other stakeholders to ensure operational compliance and communication.
  • Monitor and report on flight data, performance, and maintenance needs.
  • Assist with the scheduling and execution of Part 107 drone operations, including conducting pre-flight briefings.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of flight operation procedures and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
